In order to ensure the preservation of national costumes and to acquire ancient skills in the production of folk costumes, under the auspices of the Liepāja Museum the Kurzeme Folk Costume Information Centre has been established. It consults about the traditions of folk costume wearing and production. The centre organises training workshops, educational programs for adults and school pupils, provides individual consultations, as well as life-long learning programs for adults. All programs are headed by professional lecturers, consultants and scholars.

The aim of the Kurzeme Folk Costume Information Centre is to provide targeted advice on folk costume production, ethnographical values of Kurzeme District, support wearing of the folk costumes and exhibit the folk costume collections and samples from all districts of Kurzeme.
